Since January 2015 flexible couplings have been standardized for the first time ever in the BS EN 16397. Until 2014 couplings with and without
shear band were only standardized in the BS EN 295-4 when used with clay pipes.
The scope of application has now sizably extended to the following:
- Couplings can be used for all pipe materials for non-pressure drainage and sewage systems
- For above and below ground applications
- For installation inside and outside of buildings
- For repair purposed and connecting of different pipe systems
The new European Standard for flexible couplings is defined into two parts:
Part 1: Performance requirements, BS EN 16397-1:2014
Part 2: Characteristics and testing for metal banded flexible couplings, adaptors and bushes, BS EN 16397-2:2014
Mission Rubber UK, with the support and testing facilities of Mücher, secures its high product quality and the compliance with the UK standards. Mission Rubber is able to proof test results and compliances although the external quality control is no longer obligatory.
